At Sushi Sakura —a Japanese rotating sushi bar—expect to enjoy a wide variety of sushi and other Japanese dishes made from scratch with the freshest ingredients and time-honored classic Asian recipes at a reasonable price.

Owner Eric Zhu credits his father, Quig Zhu, who was a chef, for his passion and dedication to offering high quality, fresh and beautifully presented Japanese cuisine. As a child, he observed his father traveling around Japan and China, learning the finest cooking techniques, authentic recipes and food presentations. His father later owned and operated a Chinese restaurant in Nashville. Another family member, an uncle who was in the military stationed in Japan, also influenced Eric’s meticulous approach to preparing and serving delicious food. Eric notes that his uncle, who loved to cook, taught him discipline, a commitment to excellence and that “the magic is in the details.”

This attention to the details is evident in every dish we prepare and every aspect of your fine-dining experience. Local ingredients are married with premium fish and indigenous Asian spices to create exquisite, tantalizing Japanese cuisine. To meet the high quality standard of premium ingredients, Eric makes four weekly trips to the airport to pick up fresh fish flown in directly from Japan.

The talented and dedicated five-member team at Sushi Sakura share a love and passion for sushi. Working together with the precision of a well-oiled machine, each team member is responsible for one specific aspect of the restaurant. The areas of specialty are recipes (including one new sushi recipe weekly), presentation and design, ingredient and food quality control, kitchen supervision, and customer experience. It’s our pleasure and promise to serve the freshest, most carefully and lovingly prepared sushi and traditional Japanese dishes at a price point that’s sure to please.
